Christine Stafford

Christine’s unique ability to transform obstacles into realistic solutions has made her one of the most sought-after veterinary management consultants in the industry.

After two decades of developing private veterinary specialty practices, training leadership teams, and managing operating budgets of up to $30 million, she understands the unique challenges that today’s veterinary practices face.

From staff recruitment, development, and retention, to training personnel to reduce burn out and implementing strategies to increase revenue and profits, she consults with veterinary practice management teams on strategies to improve their practices, increase profits, and strengthen relationships with their teams’ clients.

Outside of her passion for veterinary medicine, Christine is an avid traveler and ultra-marathon runner with accomplishments that include finishing several 50k and 50-mile races. She recently completed her certification as a Level I RRCA Running Coach with the hope of mentoring new runners into the world of trail running. She currently resides in Frederick, MD with her beloved Cocker Spaniel Maxwell. In November of 2020, she co-founded Stafford Brooks Consulting with the goal of revolutionizing employee experience in veterinary medicine.

Katie Brooks, LVT, CVPM

Katie has brought a unique and effective leadership style to the veterinary profession. As a ‘blue-collar’ CEO, she worked her way from a career as a licensed veterinary technician into her executive roles. As the CEO of CVCA Cardiac Care for Pets, she grew a six doctor organization into the world’s largest veterinary cardiology practice, renowned for their culture and reputation in the industry. Her passion is creating exceptional work environments where employees have the opportunity for personal development and strive toward continued improvement of the organization. As a writer, speaker and consultant, she assists the leadership of other organizations to exceed their goals in leadership, teambuilding, business development, and strategic planning.

Katie also enjoys mentoring other leaders in and out of the veterinary field in order to help others find fulfillment in their careers and optimize the performance and culture of their own businesses. In November of 2020, she co-founded Stafford Brooks Consulting with the goal of revolutionizing employee experience in veterinary medicine.

Katie married Daniel, the love of her life in 2020 and they live in Leesburg Virginia with their blended family of five children and two yellow Labradors, Bronn and Ozzy.

Heather Carter, LVT, VTS (anesthesia & analgesia)

Changing the face of veterinary medicine starts with a strong team of thought leaders dedicated to revolutionizing the team experience. Heather has 15 years of experience in the veterinary industry on both the medical and leadership side. She has a veterinary technician specialty (VTS) in anesthesia & analgesia and is currently working on completing a master’s degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. Heather brings a strong understanding of individual and team dynamics as well as the needs and struggles of those who work in the veterinary industry. Heather is dedicated to healing the landscape of veterinary medicine and reinvigorating people’s love and passion for the profession.

Emma Kate Evans, DVM, DACVECC

Emma Kate Evans received her DVM at Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed a small animal rotating internship in Richmond, Virginia, followed by an Emergency and Critical Care Residency in Cape Cod, Massachusetts and became board-certified in Emergency and Critical Care in October of 2018. Her professional interests within critical care include the management of traumatic brain injury, sepsis, and severe endocrinopathies. Outside of work she enjoys horseback riding and playing the piano

Anne Abernethy, DVM

Anne is a highly experienced emergency room veterinarian with an interest in trauma, toxins, wounds, managing hospitalized patients, and client communication. Her travel all over the country to provide emergency care has provided her with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges emergency teams face, and the knowledge and determination to solve them. She is passionate about creating a collaborative and cohesive work environment for teams to provide unmatched patient care. We are thrilled to welcome her to the team and partner together to improve veterinary team health and care for our patients.

Stacy Walls

Stacy is a creative and innovative marketing professional with over a decade of veterinary marketing experience. Her role is to tell the world all of the amazing stories that are to be told about Stafford Brooks Consulting and Partner Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center. Our team will change the landscape of veterinary medicine and Stacy will share our story with you.

Michelle Kallman

Michelle is our Financial Coordinator and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. With over 25 years in Small Business Government Finance, Michelle started as an Accounts Payable Clerk and advanced to Executive Vice President.

She thrives in fast-paced environments while juggling multiple projects at one time.  Michelle loves numbers and giving business owners the knowledge of accounting so they can make the necessary decision to run a successful business. Happy Owners equal Happy Employees. My motto has always been “Work Smarter not Harder.”

Amber Mau

Amber has over a decade of experience in all things Human Resources. Her expertise and experience focus on the creation and build out of organized HR support tools that are transparent and empowering to employees.

Her focus has always been supporting employees and team members, changing the way teams see HR, from not just process oriented but also collaborative, supportive, responsive and compassionate.

She has an intuitive sense and enjoys navigating the unknown and transforming chaos into organized and effective solutions with keeping employees and the company’s mission at the forefront of decision making
